Moving totes for Embry-Riddle students

Short answer: Daytona Moving Bins Co. delivers clean, reusable moving totes to Embry-Riddle students and picks up the empty totes after you unpack. Students get 15% off with a valid student ID, so a dorm-size package of 20 totes is $75.65 for a week. Embry-Riddle is inside our free 20-mile delivery zone, so delivery and pickup are included.

Embry-Riddle's Daytona Beach campus is a 185-acre aviation and aerospace university right next to Daytona Beach International Airport. All students under 21 must live in university housing, so first- and second-year students fill the on-campus halls and the Chanute apartments.

Everything is sourced from the school and local agencies, checked October 28, 2026. Always confirm details with the school before you go.

When is move-in at Embry-Riddle Daytona Beach?

New students check in and move in over two days in mid-August. The orientation site lists August 16 and 17, and you book your own day and time slot online.

Fall 2026 classes started August 24, 2026, so move-in lands about a week earlier. A 2027-28 fall move-in date has not been posted yet.

If you start in spring, the next move-in is January 11, 2027. Incoming students pick up keys from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Student Village Lobby, and classes begin January 13.

Housing says dates can change and sends the latest ones to your Embry-Riddle email. Check that inbox before you book flights or a moving truck.

  • Reserve your check-in slot through the orientation registration link.
  • Order your Eagle Card ahead of time by uploading a photo online.
  • Watch for the two summer Zoom orientation info sessions the orientation office runs.
  • Questions about orientation go to dborient@erau.edu.

Which Embry-Riddle residence hall will you live in?

Your hall depends mostly on your class year. First-year students live in Adams and Wood, Doolittle, or Residence Hall 1 and 2.

Second-year students move into suites and apartments: Apollo, O'Connor, Stimpson, Residence Hall 3 or the Chanute Complex. Chanute sits 1.5 miles south of campus, with an SGA shuttle to class.

Several halls are tall buildings. Adams, Wood and Residence Hall 1 and 2 are five stories, and Residence Hall 3 is seven. The official hall pages do not say which buildings have elevators, so ask Housing before move-in day.

  • Adams and Wood: first-year triples in the Student Village, five stories, shared bathroom with the next room.
  • Doolittle: first- and second-year doubles, three stories, community bathrooms shared by four rooms.
  • Residence Hall 1 and 2: four-person suites, five stories, laundry in every wing.
  • Apollo: second-year suites with a kitchenette, laundry on the first floor.
  • O'Connor: four-bedroom suites for up to eight, with a kitchenette.
  • Stimpson: efficiency apartments for two or three, with a kitchenette.
  • Residence Hall 3: private bedrooms and bathrooms, full kitchen and in-unit washer and dryer.
  • Chanute: furnished studios and one- or two-bedroom units with full kitchens.

What should you bring to an Embry-Riddle dorm, and what is not allowed?

Every room already has a bed, desk, chair, chest of drawers and shower curtain. Beds are Twin XL, so buy extra-long twin sheets.

You cannot move the original furniture out or store it. Housing can adjust furniture during the first two weeks of the semester, if items are available.

Kitchen rules are fairly relaxed compared with many schools. Rice cookers, crock pots and coffee makers are allowed, but anything with an open flame or exposed heating element is not.

  • Bring: Twin XL sheets, mattress pad, pillows, blankets and towels.
  • Bring: desk lamp, alarm clock, laundry bag and cleaning supplies.
  • Bring: a computer, which the university strongly encourages.
  • Bring: ID, credit cards and prescription medication.
  • Residence Hall 1 and 2 do not include a mini-fridge, so plan to bring or rent one.
  • Leave home: halogen lamps, satellite dishes and open-flame or exposed-element cooking appliances.
  • Leave home: any personal refrigerator over 4.0 cubic feet.
  • Microwave and fridge combos can be rented through CollegeProducts.com.

Where do you park and unload at the Daytona Beach campus?

Residents get their own lots. The campus map lists Enterprise, Mustang and Yeager as Student Resident Green lots, and Village and Village Extension as Student Resident Red lots.

You may bring a car, but park only one on campus. Register it and display your permit at all times; permits are issued online through ERNIE.

Campus Safety will ticket, boot or tow cars parked in the wrong place. Parking Services is in the Mori Hosseini Student Union, Building 610.

  • The campus map shows Clyde Morris Blvd., Richard Petty Blvd. and Aerospace Blvd. around campus.
  • Student Resident Red lots: Village and Village Extension.
  • Student Resident Green lots: Enterprise, Mustang and Yeager.
  • Campus Safety phone: 386-226-6480.

How do moving out and breaks work at Embry-Riddle?

Campus stays open over Thanksgiving and spring break, and you can stay in your hall. Thanksgiving 2026 runs November 25-27.

For winter break, Housing tells students what to do by email. You can leave your belongings in your room between fall and spring.

The big move-out is in May. The 2027 housing calendar says halls close at noon, but it lists both May 8 and May 9, so confirm with Housing.

Students without a Summer A housing contract must leave by that noon deadline. Summer A move-in is May 17, 2027.

  • Last day of spring 2027 classes: April 29.
  • Spring 2027 final exams: May 1 and May 3-5.
  • Housing cancellation deadline for 2027-28: May 31, 2027.
  • Housing's site links to a summer storage page; ask Housing for the current option.

Where do Embry-Riddle students live off campus?

If you are 21 or older, you can look off campus. Embry-Riddle runs an off-campus housing marketplace that shows each listing's commute time to campus.

Two of the shortest commutes listed are OnShore Daytona (14 minutes) and Eagle Landing on Shady Place (18 minutes). OnShore lists 2- to 4-bedroom units and $55-a-year parking.

Many listings leave lease length and utilities blank. Ask each landlord about move-in dates, parking and what rent includes before you sign.

Many other listings show 30+ minutes, including complexes in Port Orange and on the beachside. Factor that drive into early flight blocks and lab times.

  • OnShore Daytona: 1100 Halifax Medical Center Drive, 2x2 to 4x4 floor plans.
  • Eagle Landing Apartments: 1479 Shady Place.
  • Nordica Landing: 1756 S. Clyde Morris Blvd.
  • Bellamy Daytona: 601 Bellamy Ct.

How do you get around without a car near Embry-Riddle?

Votran Route 18 (International Speedway/Williamson) serves Embry-Riddle, the airport and Volusia Mall. That makes it handy for supply runs and flights home.

A single adult ride costs $2.00, and an all-day pass is $4.00 on the bus. A 31-day pass costs $50.00, and Votran does not offer transfers.

During big Speedway race weekends, Route 18 has skipped Embry-Riddle and the airport. Check Votran detours before you plan a move around a race.

  • Chanute residents can use the SGA shuttle to main campus.
  • Groome Transportation runs shuttles from Orlando to Daytona.
  • Amtrak's nearest regular passenger station is DeLand, about 30 miles away.
  • Live bus tracking is on Votran's My Stop tool.

What should international and out-of-state students know before arriving?

Flying in is easy, since Daytona Beach International Airport is next door to campus. Orlando International and Orlando Sanford are about an hour away by car.

You can ship mail before you get a mailbox. Use this format: Student Name, NEW STUDENT, 1 Aerospace Blvd., Daytona Beach, FL 32114.

The mail center assigns your mailbox after you arrive. Pack your carry-on with your ID, medications and one set of Twin XL bedding for the first night.

  • Orlando-area flights: plan for about an hour's drive.
  • Book your check-in slot before you book your flight.
  • Rent a microwave-fridge combo instead of shipping one.

How many moving totes do you need for an Embry-Riddle dorm or apartment?
